" Special Exhibition, Legendary Treasures of Kyushu " 2009 October 20 Tue. to November 29 Sun. Special Exhibition Gallery ![]() History of ancient Kyushu Kyushu has played a historical role in terms of external contact, and this exhibition will represent archaeological aspect of Kyushu indicating the variety of each area. Archaeological treasures in Kyushu Luxurious treasures from the tomb mound of Yayoi era will be displayed. Debut in Kyushu - return home Archaeological data originally excavated from Kyushu, such as unearthed articles from Ikisanchoshizuka will be displayed in their home area for the first time, returned from Kansai and Kanto area. Western and Eastern will gather It is the first opportunity that the sword of eastern and western local ruling family given by Yuryaku emperor, one of the great king of Wa kingdom will be shown. Though Kyushu is located western edge of Japan, it's in the middle of East China Sea, between Korea and Taiwan. So Kyushu has accepted diverseness of different culture such as Southern, Continental and Occidental from very early stage of its history. New profession and religion such as rice cultivation, Christianity gave a big impact to whole this country. This exhibition will represent historical role of Kyushu and a variety of ancient culture. In addition to archaeological items of Kyushu, lots of treasures originally from Kyushu will be returned home from Tokyo and Kansai museums. We hope all of you enjoy beautiful ancient master pieces.
